Current Information:Age-20 27, Glazbury Road, West Kensington Berles-au-Bois Churchyard, France On 25th May, 1916, 10th Royal Fusiliers of 111 Brigade, 37th Division moved into the front line at Berles-au-Bois, just to the south of Arras. At 3.40 the following morning, 26th May, the enemy unleashed a 15 minute bombardment of the support lines with, what the Battalion Diary recorded as, ‘scanty results’. With the rest of the day being ‘quiet’ it is most likely that this short bombardment resulted in the deaths of the 2 men who were killed in action on that day, on of whom was Albert Rose. The results of the the shelling were anything but ‘scanty’ to him. |
